Its very difficult differentiating who is scamming me here, who is ignorant and who has just developed a system that screws me. ![]() Even that makes me wonder if the metal number was for the actual mechanical part as Ive been told.but then why the hell did I have to send my entire ignition to a third party dealer to re-cut it?! When I had asked the current dealership they had first told me I had to get a new ignition. He said I needed to have the white and red keycard that came with the bike. I called someone that actually does reprogramming of consoles (ducatis policy is to buy a new one). I called ducati north america and he said he didnt know much about tech and told me the same thing as you. They told me the same thing about the little metal tag.now them and 3 other dealerships I spoke to over the phone said I was screwed. This is has already lost 8 months of riding time.and 200 dollars spent to get the keys rekeyed not to mention the 160 dollars for the keys themselves. I still have the number from the metal key tag but I am told thats not very relevant as its only for the mechanical version of the key. I want to believe them but I think they are mistaken as logical as it would be that a dealer could fix the bike. I spoke to two other ducati dealerships that confirmed that Im screwed.Īnd I spoke to another dealership that said that they could fix the issue just by programming the bike with their machine. I talked to SOS and another shop that does programming and they said that if I send them the dash they would charge me 500 to 600 dollars. I took the bike to them and now they told me that I would need a new dash which costs 1100 dollars! The ducati dealership told me that if I bring them the bike and the two keys they would charge me an hour of labor which they claimed was their discount rate and make the bike work.
